The definition of ergonomics is a branch of engineering science in which biological science is used to study the relation between people in their work places and their environments. The aim of which is to improve efficiency and productivity. Many of us spend more time sitting in our office chair than we do asleep in our bed, so the ergonomic chair has become an absolute necessity in ensuring the comfort of its occupant.

However, when it comes to the ergonomic chair, one size most definitely does not fit all. Some ergonomic chairs 'bought off the shelf' may be comfortable for one person but not for another. It is important that the ergonomic chair chosen has a high level of adjustability and comes with intelligent mechanisms designed to encourage body movement and can be shaped to support the occupant. Many ergonomic chairs will have fully adjustable arms, seat height adjustment and lumbar support.

When an ergonomic chair is set up correctly it can help the occupant maintain a better seated posture which can alleviate painful posture related issues and ensure comfort throughout the working which will help effectiveness at work and productivity.

Ergonomic Seating Technology

How can AirCare Systems help?

To aid a sound posture it is important that back muscles move frequently. This can be achieved by air seating where the seat position changes and adapts to the body’s movement during the working day, just like sitting on a gym ball.

Body responsive movement is essential

AirCare Systems™ have developed the AirCare™ technology that brings movement to the users working day in a sitting environment.  The AirCare™ System is based on ergonomic seating technology that adapts to the exact body shape and size and responds to every movement.

Responsive Air Cell Ergonomic Cushion

AirCare™ has developed ergonomic seating technology that supports the lower back and at the same time stimulates muscles as the user moves gently in their working environment.  The air seat moves as they move and supports them through the working day, helping to maintain an optimum sitting position.

A simple push of the button allows the seat to adjust to fit the users natural shape and deliver a unique, tailor made seat - just for them.

The details:

The ergonomic air seat is adjusted at the push of a button, allowing air to flow through the two way valve and as the user sits and applies pressure the seat will fit to their shape and mass, when they are comfortable, they just release the button.  To re-inflate, they simply release weight from the seat with the button depressed, air then flows back into the twin chambers via the AirBridge control system.  The ergonomic seat can also be supplied with a pump up and air release mechanism, just like many lumbar supports.

The AirCare™ technology is tested to industry office seating cycle standards of 250,000 repetitions for a 115Kg mass (18 stone) and the material has been tested to withstand in excess of a 200kg compression for prolonged periods.
